According to The Ecologist, Vysoké Tatry is one of the last places, where you can encounter izzard – critically endangered antelope species. Moreover, the national park is the home of marmots, brown bears and ample bird species. The national park description mentions the highest peak of Tatra Mountains Gerlachovský štít, mountain lake Štrbské pleso as the leaving point of tourist routes, or the symbol of Slovakia - Kriváň

The magazine recommends good accommodation, respecting ecological requirements, at Štrbské pleso. At the end of the article, the author gives advice how to get from London to Slovakia and Tatra Mountains by train. The article contains also a link to the national portal of tourism of the SR www.slovakia.travel. When writing the article, the author cooperated with the Slovak Tourist Board (SACR).

Worldwide known magazine The Ecologist was founded by Edward Goldsmith in 1970. The magazine has become the platform of the ecologist movement and significant initiatives calling attention e.g. to climatic changes and globalisation. From 2009, the magazine has been published only electronically (www.theecologist.org) and focused mainly on topical ecological problems.
