Peter Dvorský is the best known Slovak opera singer, from the early 1980s classified among the best tenor singers in the world with an extraordinary voice of a beautiful velvet timbre.
He was born in Partizánske in a musical family. His father was an amateur violin player, his mother sang in a choir. His three brothers also chose the career of singers. Peter Dvorský studied singing at the Conservatory in Bratislava and after he graduated, he performed as a soloist of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava.
His brilliant career was started in 1972 when he played the character of Lensky in Tchaikovsky´s opera Eugen Onegin. Since then he has performed in more than sixty most famous operas in more than thirty countries of the world, e.g. the Bolshoi Teatr in Moscow, the Vienna State Opera, La Scala in Milan, Covent Garden in London and the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
During the years of his career top he ranked among the five best tenor singers of the world. At present he is working as the director of the State Opera in Košice.
