From the chateau to the castle (Zvolen)

Zvolenský zámok Castle

The walk around the town Zvolen starts at the Námestie SNP square - one of the biggest in Slovakia. The independently standing parish church of St Elizabeth from the end of the14th century is its dominant. A much younger Evangelical church with a tall tower stands closer to the chateau.

The route heads to the symbol of Zvolen - its chateau. It was built in the second half of the 14th century. Now it is occupied by the Slovak National Gallery. The walk then continues out of the town to the almost 8 hectares of the area of Pustý hrad. Instructive trail leads to the area.
