Archaeological site Villa rustica

The term villa rustica is used for such a type of Roman dwelling which also contains a sophisticated water main with a pool used as the classical Roman bath.

The remains of the Roman building next to Dúbravka were discovered in 1982. Archaeologists presume that is was not Roman who resided here but a German magnate who adopted the Roman ways. The house probably stood on the road between the Roman military stations in Devín and Stupava. The structure was first built as a Roman bath of circular type with small pools for cold and hot water. Later the builder most probably changed the design and only built a cold bath.

Green-marked hiking footpath leads to the villa rustica from Dúbravka.
