TATRANSKÁ MADONNA – the biggest mosaic in the world created from the circulating coins. This work of art was created by 155 staff members of the POHOTOVOSŤ Company in September 2006 in order to remember the Slovak currency before Slovakia enters the common European currency.
Tatranská Madonna was created on the basis of the sketch made by the painter Marián Prešnajder.
The mosaic depicts the Holy Mother – Madonna with a child, little Jesus. For Slovak people she is the symbol of Christianity, protection, motherhood, hope and help.
The monument Tatranská Madonna is recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. Its artistic value is more than 331,939.19 €.
The mosaic was solemnly exposed on 16 June 2006 in the place of its origin - Aquapark Tatralandia. It has three colours of the Slovak circulating coins the total number of which is 115,000; the total area of this work of art is 52.5 square metres (7 m x 7,5 m).
