One of the stateliest buildings of eastern Slovakia is situated in the southern part of region Spiš. It is the manor house Markušovce.

Kremnica is the historic centre of gold mining and coin striking in Slovakia. Coins have been struck in the local mint for almost seven hundred years.

One of the centres of the cult of the Virgin Mary of Seven Grievances, the patron saint of Slovakia is the church in Šaštín of 1736. It is visited by thousands of pilgrims not only from Slovakia but also from abroad.

In 1319 master Kakaš donated the community of Lechnica to the friars of Skala (today Kláštorisko in Slovak Paradise) who built in the nearby valley of St Anton a Carthusian monastery. Because the buildings of the monastery were built of red bricks the people began to call it Červený kláštor (Red Monastery).

Museum of Liptov Village is the most attractive landmark of the Liptov region. It displays the typical  folk architecture. The impetus behind the establishing of the museum was the extensive flooding caused by the construction of the Liptovská Mara dam.

The outdoor ethnographic exposition presents the "kopanice" type of scattered settlements in hilly areas which was typical of the Kysuce region.

Three kilometres away from Zuberec, at Brestová, a unique open-air Museum of the Orava Village (Múzeum oravskej dediny) can be visited. Over an area of about 20 hectares, and on both sides of the crystal clean Studený potok brook, is a village containing the typical folk buildings moved here from various regions of Orava.

NITRA is referred to as the oldest urban formation in Slovakia. The attribute of “ancient” suits it as it was the seat of the Nitra Principality as early as the 9th century.

East Slovakian village Nižná Myšla represents one of the richest archaeological localities in Slovakia where the primeval settlement of Košice and its environs is demonstrated.
